What if my child needs medication during school hours?
The School will administer prescribed medication. Should your child require medication during school time a Medication Consent Form must be completed and all medication left with a member of the School Office.
This form is available from the School Office. However, preparatory branded medicines such as Calpol, Cough Linctus etc., cannot be administered by school staff.
It is important that the school is notified of any health problems before a child starts at the school. If a child is on long-term medication for a condition such as asthma or diabetes and requires treatment during the school day this can usually be arranged but must be discussed in detail beforehand.
The office staff or lunchtime supervisors are first aid trained and treat minor injuries. Parents will be contacted if a more serious injury is sustained or in the case of illness when it is considered that the child should be sent home. It is therefore important that contact telephone numbers are kept up to date.
