Fundraising Introduction

Previous Fundraising:

Make IT happen

In 2001 the Governors decided to seek new ways of raising money to make much needed improvements for our children. We formed the "make IT happen" charitable appeal to:

To provide the best possible facilities and accessibility for our children and parental community, by creating dedicated areas for an ICT suite, library, music and drama, special educational needs, and a quiet area for prayer and reflection.

We set ourselves very ambitious plans, raising money from the parental community (via donations from the PTA), local businesses, and Charitable Trusts and Foundations, with the aim of:

    * Improving the overall teaching and learning experience for all children
    * Developing ICT skills, vital for today's world
    * Building confidence, self expression and creative skills through better music, drama, dance, sports and play facilities
    * Giving better accessibility and opportunity for all
    * Providing more opportunities for the community through greater partnership with local Parishes

Since we started we have now raised and spent over £370,000 from all sources (Donations, grants, PTA and parents) for many much needed improvements to the school. This has significantly improved the school's facilities, making them safer, improving the quality of education received, and also increasing the range of recreational facilities for our children.

Our most recent success has been the creation of the long awaited ICT suite. We raised £192,000 and built a brand new classroom, and fully equipped our ICT suite with state of the art technology in two years! Bishop Kieran Conry officially opened our ICT suite on Wednesday 21st April. He joined a prayer service led by our Year 4 children, and took part in a whole school assembly. It was a wonderful occasion and he was joined by Fr Cornelius, the Mayor Cllr Keith Taylor and his wife, Mrs. Lucy Taylor, Professor Patrick Dowling, Vice Chancellor of the University of Surrey and his wife Dr Grace Dowling, Cllr Nick Brougham and Sue Doughty. The moment was 'captured' by the Surrey Advertiser for the weekend edition of 29th April.

We are now focussing our attention on the next phase of our plans. This is to provide better facilities and equipment for music and drama. The school is already renowned for its school productions, but we want to give all our children even greater access to and a wider choice of learning musical instruments and enjoying performing arts, whether music, drama or dancing and movement.

We plan to create:

    * Individual practice rooms
    * Group session room
    * Music library and better storage
    * A wider range of musical and percussion instruments

These spaces will be both flexible and adaptable in their use. They will be used for individual and small group sessions, including lunchtime clubs, music lessons, quiet areas, one to one tuition, Special Educational Needs, Interview rooms, and small meeting rooms.

We already have one of the best equipped Early Years Unit and ICT provision in the Guildford area. This important addition to our facilities will now probably provide our children with the best opportunity in music and drama as well. Plans for improving sports facilities will be developed in Spring 2006.
