School Governors are also part of the School team, and are actively involved with the school. They are all made welcome to come into school as often as possible. Governors have a chosen focus areas of the school's curriculum or activities, for example: numeracy, literacy, ICT, Special Educational Needs, health and safety. Governors are also aligned to specific classes and are encouraged to attend school on a regular basis and are invited to school social and fund raising events.

Governors' prime responsibility is to develop the strategy and direction for the school, in conjunction with the Headteacher and staff. A three year strategic plan sets the vision for the school, and this is reviewed and updated on a regular basis. This includes agreeing the school's annual budget, and making sure that the budget is balanced so that expenditure does not exceed income. Governors review progress and monitor the School's performance against the Plan. This includes visiting the school, in agreement with the Headteacher and Class teachers concerned, to act as the School's "critical friend". In this way progress against the Plan is monitored and used to measure performance.

Governors' meetings take place throughout the term. Most work takes place at committee stage, with separate committees for Personnel, Curriculum, Premises, Finance, Marketing & Communications, and Fund Raising. For certain specific matters a small Working Party is formed. Matters discussed and agreed at these meetings are reported back to the full Governing Body, where decisions are ratified, and matters of policy are discussed.
